The Candian Rockies is a gorgeous location to host your mountain wedding venue. Where you decide to get married will determine on the “look” of the Rocky Mountains as each mountain wedding venue differs a great deal, which by the way, hardly anyone is aware of. I am thrilled to share my Top Alberta Mountain Venues with you. The Canadian Rockies is genuinely one of the best places for wedding photography, and I hope that you find a mountain venue that you love. After all, I being Geoff from GW Photography, emigrated to Canada because of my love of the Canadian Rockies. If your heart is set to host your wedding in the Rockies, I get it as I moved to a new country because of the mystical and magical beauty.
Deciding to get married in Lake Louise, Banff, or Canmore your venue should fulfill several requirements from where your guests will stay, how far is the drive from your ceremony and reception venue to the guest’s hotel. Or even how far from Calgary will your venue be i.e. allowing convenience for your guest’s arrival and departure.
If you are not sure about such details, please contact me or a professional wedding planner. It is my goal as a full-time wedding professional to assist you wherever I can making sure your dreams come true. If you’re on the fence between hosting your wedding in The Rockies or Calgary check out the best wedding venues in Calgary.
When considering the best mountain wedding venues consider where you will be getting ready. Hair and Makeup artists to offer you the best experience are to be thought of. If you’re a bride who is getting ready at a different location to your wedding venue just allow for additional space for stylists to work with natural light. For grooms getting ready this is often overlooked. I suggest a fabulous space with natural light for the guys to get ready.
Finding that perfect mountain wedding venue is a fun experience. Explore the many locations below, and contact me with any questions you might have. I’d be thrilled to hear from you.
WEDDING VENUES IN BANFF
Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel
The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel is one of if the flagship hotels of the hotel chain spanning around the world. It was here that originally knows as the Canadain Pacific (CP) Hotel, where this Historic Hotel in Banff was completed in 1888.
Your wedding at this hotel will be stunning, but a note on the room of your choice will differ to the feel that you’ll receive. If your desire is the Castle experience, then the Mt. Stephen Hall is the king and queen choice. With this choice, you are limited to 150 people, so if you’d love 300 guests, then the Albumbra or Cascade Ballroom is likely the better choice. For a smaller intimate wedding, can I suggest the Ivor Petrak Room?
Remember the hotel room for your reception and ceremony are essential at this hotel, so take the time to review every aspect of this stunning hotel.

Buffalo Mountain Lodge
Buffalo Mountain Lodge offers three rooms to couples to get married in or hold their reception with the Wapiti Room being the largest.
Opposite the hotel is the Tunnel Mountain Reservoir, and I’ve had many clients believe that they had to book the Buffalo Mountain Lodge to reserve the stunning Meadow overlooking Mt. Rundle. This is not the case, and all you have to do is contact the Town Of Banff to obtain a permit. However, I do find many of my clients love to book the excellent Buffalo Mountain Lodge when getting married at the Tunnel Mountain Reservoir as it’s a couple of minute’s walk from the hotel.
The Buffalo Mountain Lodge is a fantastic rustic hotel located with a shuttle ride away from downtown Banff (or a longer walk). The hotel offers a relaxed mountain feel that the fabulous Rockies is known for.

When booking this venue, I would think about having a first look before you head up on the Gondola as once you’re up, you won’t want to come down. Photographing around Banff first after your first look will allow you to head to your ceremony and then celebrate your cocktail hour and move right into your reception.
