ELOPEMENTS
Banff & the Canadian Rockies
LOCATIONS
Locations To Explore
Fly to a ridge where nobody else can reach you, or say your vows beside a turquoise lake as the sun comes up. I plan and photograph ELOPEMENTS and HELICOPTER WEDDINGS in Banff, Canmore and across the Canadian Rockies, and I take care of every detail so you can simply be there.
Your Dream Elopement in the Rockies, Without the Guesswork
You’ve seen the photos: two people, a wild mountain view and nobody else for miles. You want that for yourselves. But where do you even start? Which lake, which flight, which season? What if the weather turns? Do you need a permit? Can your parents come?
That’s exactly where I come in. I’ve photographed weddings in the Canadian Rockies since 2005, and I know these mountains in every season: the light, the wind, the crowds and the places worth going. You tell me how you want the day to feel.
I’ll guide you through every decision and shape the whole experience around you, so all that’s left is to enjoy it.
I’m Geoff. I came to Canada from London in 1996 looking for adventure, and the Rockies have been home ever since. Before I picked up a camera professionally, I spent years looking after log cabins across the Rockies, Selkirks and Purcells, so these mountains are far more than a backdrop to me.
In 2005, I trained in editorial and fashion photography and opened my studio. Since then, I’ve photographed more than 1,000 weddings and elopements, and I still hike these mountains with my family every chance we get.
My job is simple: to know the mountains so you don’t have to, and to make sure you both feel completely looked after, from our first call to the day your photos arrive.
with great attention to detail. He’s compassionate, humorous
and makes everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera. His work is stunning, and we were truly impressed and grateful for his presence. Thank you, Geoff!

Two ways to experience theRockies
Some couples want to fly somewhere no road can take them. Others want the lakes, the trails and the slow, beautiful pace of a day on the ground. Many want both. Whatever you’re drawn to, there’s an experience waiting for you below.
Helicopter Experiences
Private flights to ridges, glaciers and alpine lakes, from one unforgettable landing to a multi-day adventure across the range.
Elopement Experiences
Sunset or Sunrise vows at a turquoise lake, a hike to a quiet viewpoint, a long lunch with a view. A whole day or two built around you.
A few minutes after take-off, the valley falls away beneath you. When the rotors go quiet, it’s just the two of you, a view that goes on forever and the people you chose to bring. No road, no crowds, no one walking through your ceremony.
Your helicopter day can be as simple as one landing for your vows and portraits, or as big as several days in the mountains. I know the flights, the conditions and what works in every season, and I’ll match you with the experience that fits you best.
Helicopter Weddings & Elopements in Banff, Canmore & Beyond
Helicopter Offerings
One Landing, One Unforgettable View
One flight to a ridge, glacier or alpine lake. Your vows, a toast and portraits up top, then back down in time for dinner. Perfect for first-time flyers, or for pairing with a lake elopement on the ground.
Two Landings, Two Different Worlds
Say your vows on a summit, then land beside a glacier or alpine lake for portraits. Two completely different settings in one afternoon.
A Full Day in the Mountains
Several landings, a picnic up top and time to explore. The whole mountain range becomes your wedding venue.
A Multi-Day Mountain Adventure
Ridges, glaciers, alpine lakes and quiet valley days, spread over two or three days. For couples who want the trip of a lifetime, not just a few hours.
Bring the People You Love
Your closest family and friends can fly up with you, or celebrate together in the valley while the two of you fly off for portraits.
Engagement, Anniversary and After-the-Wedding Flights
Already married, or just engaged? Celebrate an anniversary, mark your engagement, or bring your wedding outfits up a mountain for the portraits you always dreamed of. No paperwork needed, just the flight, the views and the two of you.
More Places to Fly, More Ways to Experience the Canadian Rockies
Canmore & Kananaskis Country
Ridge-top vows with the Bow Valley far below, a short flight from town. By far the most popular to due easy access, plenty of accommodation and not too far to drive from Calgary or Banff
David Thompson Country
Quiet peaks above turquoise water, far from the crowds.
Jasper
Big mountain views, with flights leaving from just outside the national park.
The BC Interior
Huge glaciers and remote peaks in the Purcell and Selkirk mountains.
Multi-Region Adventures
Combine regions over several days for the full Canadian Rockies experience. I keep the exact landing spots for our call. Every one is chosen around you: your vision, your group, the season and how adventurous you're feeling.
Luxury Elopements in Banff National Park & the Canadian Rockies
An elopement isn’t a smaller wedding. It’s a different kind of day, designed entirely around the two of you. Instead of spending it on hundreds of guests, you spend it on the experience: the places, the pace and the moments that matter most to you.
You could start with sunrise vows beside a glassy lake, hike to a quiet viewpoint, enjoy a long lunch in the mountains, then finish with portraits as the peaks turn gold. Or keep it to one perfect evening. Whatever you imagine, I’ll help you plan it, handle the park rules and paperwork, and make sure the day feels easy from start to finish.
I know the Canadian Rockies inside and out. These mountains are my home, and I love sharing my local knowledge and experience to help you create a day that’s entirely your own.
A Few Ideas to Get You Dreaming
Drive to a trail head with a short hike
A long hike to the top of a mountain
Private vows at a turquoise lake before the crowds arrive
A canoe paddle in your wedding outfits
A short hike to a viewpoint with nobody else around
A gourmet picnic with a mountain view
A first look in a quiet forest clearing
Champagne and portraits as the sun goes down
Starlit portraits on a clear night
Sunrise or Sunset? Pick Your Vibe
Are you early risers who love the idea of watching the sun come up over the mountains? Or would you prefer a slower start, an afternoon exploring, and beautiful evening light? Every couple is different.
Tell me what feels right for you, and I’ll help you choose the locations and timing to make the most of your day.
Absolutely! One location, two, or even four or eight! It all depends on what you’d like to experience and how much time you want to spend at each place. With my local knowledge, I’ll help you plan a route that makes sense, accounts for travel and crowds, and gives you time to enjoy each location without feeling rushed.
Purely elopements
You don’t need to have everything figured out before getting in touch. That’s what I’m here for.
Let’s chat about what you’d love to experience, where you’d like to go, and what means the world to you both. I’ll bring my knowledge of the Rockies, and together we’ll create a day that feels like you, not somebody else’s idea of what your wedding should be.
Why couples trust me
20+ Years in the Rockies
Since 2005, I’ve photographed more than 1,000 weddings and elopements. I know these mountains in every season.
Planning Without the Stress
Flights, locations, permits, your commissioner and the timeline. I’ll handle the details and keep everything simple.
At Home in the Mountains
I’ve spent decades hiking and exploring the backcountry here. Ridges, wind and changing weather don’t faze me, so they won’t faze you.
One Person, Start to Finish
You’ll work with me directly, from the first call to your final gallery. No assistants, no hand-offs.
Editorial Photographs, Real Moments
Trained in editorial and fashion photography, I’ll guide you naturally, so your photos feel like a magazine and still look like you.
Safety Always Comes First
The pilot always makes the final call, and I watch the forecast closely all week. If the mountains say not today, we’ll have a plan.

CALGARY
Your journey begins here. Fly into Calgary International Airport, and you'll be standing in the mountains in about 90 minutes.
LAKE LOUISE
Turquoise water, the Victoria Glacier and one of the most famous views in the world. It’s also one of the busiest locations in the Canadian Rockies, making local knowledge and careful timing essential to getting the most out of your experience.
From the most iconic lakes in the world to quiet corners most visitors never find, the Rockies give you endless places to say your vows. Here are a few to start with. On our call, I'll suggest the ones that suit your vision, your season and your pace.
Elopement Locations in the Canadian Rockies
CANMORE
A relaxed mountain town ringed by dramatic peaks, and the perfect place to start your helicopter wedding, with ridge-top views just minutes away.
INVERMERE
Warm, sunny and tucked between two mountain ranges in the Columbia Valley. A beautiful place to fly from, and to celebrate by the lake afterwards.
MORAINE LAKE
The Valley of the Ten Peaks and that unforgettable blue. One of the jewels of the Canadian Rockies, but getting here takes planning. Access is limited, and timing can completely change your experience. This is where my local knowledge makes the difference, helping you make the most of Moraine Lake.
PEYTO + BOW LAKE
Two spectacular lakes along the Icefields Parkway. Peyto Lake is famous for its brilliant turquoise water and panoramic views, while Bow Lake offers incredible mountain scenery with easy lakeside access. Two beautiful locations, each offering a completely different experience in the Canadian Rockies.
GOLDEN
Where the Rockies meet the Purcell Mountains, Golden offers incredible mountain scenery and endless opportunities to explore. From quiet riverside locations to dramatic alpine landscapes, it’s also a gateway to remote glaciers and mountain summits accessible by helicopter.
JASPER
Big lakes, fewer people and some of the darkest night skies on Earth. Perfect for couples who want space, stillness and starlit portraits.

BANFF
Classic mountain views just minutes from town, with plenty of quiet corners away from the crowds, and the perfect base for your adventure.
EMERALD LAKE
Tucked away in Yoho National Park, just over the BC border. Emerald green water, forest trails and canoe rentals make this an incredible location to explore. It’s also extremely popular, with limited parking and heavy crowds. Choosing the right time of day can make all the difference to your experience.
KANANASKIS
Wild, quiet and only an hour from Calgary. Think dramatic mountain valleys, steep terrain and incredible hiking opportunities, with plenty of places to escape the crowds.
That’s exactly what our call is for. Tell me what you’re dreaming of, and together we’ll create an experience built around the two of you.

FAQ Helicopter Wedding & Elopement Questions
Planning a mountain wedding experience often comes with lots of questions, so here are a few of the most common ones couples ask.
How much does a helicopter wedding in Banff cost?
Helicopter weddings and elopements start from $8,900 CAD. Your total depends on the flight, the number of landings, how many people fly and how long you'd like up top. You'll get a clear, complete quote after our call.
How much does a luxury elopement in Banff cost?
Elopements start from $8,000 CAD. Your quote is built around the experience you want, from one perfect evening to several days in the mountains.
Where are the best places to elope in the Canadian Rockies?
Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Peyto Lake, Emerald Lake, Banff, Canmore, Kananaskis and Jasper are all beautiful, and there are many quieter spots too. The best one depends on your season, your pace and the feeling you want, and I'll help you choose.
Only if you want to. Some ceremony spots are steps from the car or the helicopter, and some couples love a short walk to a viewpoint. I'll match the plan to your comfort level and what you're wearing.
Do we have to hike?
What happens if the weather changes?
Mountain weather can change quickly, and safety always comes first. The pilot makes the final call on flights, and I'll watch the forecast with you all week. There's always a plan but remember this is an outdoor mountain experience and if you're not booking an indoor venue then being prepared is key. Often my couples have a cozy lodge to get ready at which can make for some awesome photos if it's bad weather.
Can we have a helicopter wedding in Canmore?
Yes. Canmore is one of the easiest places to start a helicopter wedding, with flights to nearby ridges and alpine meadows only minutes from town. It sits just outside Banff National Park, so it pairs beautifully with a lake elopement in Banff on the same day.
Can we have a helicopter wedding in Banff National Park?
Helicopters can't land for ceremonies inside Banff National Park, so flights leave from just outside the park. Many couples fly in the morning and spend the evening at a Banff lake, so you can have both.
How many guests can come?
It depends on the experience. Small groups can fly up with you, and larger groups can celebrate in the valley while you fly off for portraits. We'll find the right fit on our call.
Do we need a permit to elope in Banff?
Ceremonies in Banff National Park need to be registered with Parks Canada, and you'll need an Alberta marriage licence, a marriage commissioner and two witnesses. I'll walk you through all of it.
How far ahead should we book?
Most couples book a year in advance, as each experience is thoughtfully planned and built around them. That said, if you’ve just found me and love the idea of an experience like this, please get in touch. Sometimes the perfect day is still open.
Ready for the Elopement of a Lifetime?
