Your engagement is more than a photo session. It is the beginning of your story together, and it deserves intention.
With over 20 years of experience photographing couples across Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise, and the Canadian Rockies, I design engagement sessions that feel natural while carefully managing location access, light, timing, and privacy. From urban Calgary settings to remote alpine backdrops, every detail is planned with purpose.
You do not need to worry about where to go, what to wear, or how to pose. I guide you through the entire process, creating space for genuine connection while ensuring your session runs smoothly. The result is imagery that feels refined, effortless, and true to who you are.
Adventure means something different to every couple.
For some, it is a quiet sunrise session overlooking the Bow Valley. For others, it is a helicopter landing on a remote alpine ridge or a scenic evening in the heart of Calgary. What matters most is choosing a setting that reflects your relationship.
Having photographed extensively throughout the Rockies, I understand how to work with mountain light, shifting weather, shuttle systems, park access regulations, and seasonal conditions. This local expertise ensures your engagement session is not only beautiful but also thoughtfully executed.
Every session is crafted to balance the grandeur of the landscape with the intimacy of your connection.
Geoff was an incredible professional —
with great attention to detail. He’s compassionate, humorous
and made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera. His work is stunning, and we were truly impressed and grateful for his presence.
Thank you, Geoff!

An engagement session allows you to slow down before the pace of your wedding day begins.
It gives you space to feel comfortable in front of the camera, understand how I guide you naturally, and experience what it feels like to be photographed without pressure. Many couples tell me this transforms how relaxed they feel on their wedding day.
Engagement images can also be used for save the dates, invitations, wedding websites, guest books, or heirloom artwork in your home.
Most importantly, your photographs document this chapter of your relationship, and when printed and displayed in your home on your wall, they become a daily reminder of what truly matters most to you.
A Moment Without Distractions
Your wedding day will be filled with excitement and unforgettable moments, but your engagement session is a chance to slow down and fully enjoy each other’s presence. No rush, no pressure, just the two of you, celebrating this chapter in a way that feels natural and meaningful.
A Location That Speaks to You
Your engagement session is more than just a photo shoot, it’s a chance to capture your love in a place that holds significance. Whether it’s a mountaintop, downtown of your favourite city, or a destination that speaks to your journey, your location should reflect who you are together.
Effortless & Refined Imagery
Great photography isn’t about endless posing, it’s about connection. With a tailored experience and expert guidance, your engagement session will feel natural, effortless, and true to you, ensuring every image reflects your story with authenticity.
Seamless Experience with a Professional
From choosing the perfect location to ensuring you feel completely at ease, I provide a seamless experience from start to finish. As a professional photographer, I take the time to understand what matters most to you, so every detail aligns with your vision.
Artwork to Celebrate Your Story
Engagement photos aren’t just for save-the-dates, they’re meant to be cherished. Whether displayed in a fine art album or as a stunning piece in your home, your engagement images become a daily reminder of your love, captured beautifully and intentionally.
Once you inquire, we schedule a consultation, typically over Zoom, where I learn about your vision, preferred locations, and the kind of experience you’re drawn to. Whether you’re considering a hiking adventure session, downtown Calgary, or the shoreline of Lake Louise, I provide clear guidance and a tailored quote based on what you’re looking for.
You secure your date with a signed agreement and payment. From there, your session is officially booked and we move into the creative planning phase.
Planning and designing your session is just as important as the day itself.
We discuss wardrobe styling, seasonal considerations, ideal timing, and your chosen location. I also connect with each of you individually to understand what you love about one another, so when it's time for your shoot, I already know what means the world to you so can photograph it with intention rather than simply capturing surface moments.
On the day of your session, the focus is 100% on you two having a great time while I capture what you genuinely love about each other.
Afterward, you’ll receive a professionally edited private online gallery. If included in your collection, high resolution downloads are available, and many couples choose custom wall art or fine art albums so their photographs are printed and seen every day in their home.
Engagement photographs deserve more than digital storage.
Many couples choose fine art albums or framed wall pieces crafted with archival materials. I guide you through the selection and design process so your images live in your home, not just on a screen.

My approach
As an engagement photographer, I do more than capture moments, I document the emotions, landscapes, and unique connection you share in a way that feels effortless and timeless.
Whether you’re embracing on a secluded mountaintop, wandering through a golden field, or simply sharing quiet laughter in a place that holds meaning to you, my goal is to create imagery that reflects your love story with authenticity and depth.
The key to natural, effortless engagement photos starts long before the session, it comes from a photographer who truly takes the time to understand you as a couple.
Some photographers approach sessions by simply shooting non-stop without purpose, leaving couples feeling disconnected and unsure of how to interact. The difference in working with an experienced, high-end photographer is the level of preparation, attention, and connection built before the session even starts.
With my approach, we build a relationship beforehand, so by the time we meet for your session, you’re already comfortable, excited, and relaxed. Instead of stiff, awkward posing, I guide you through natural movements, real emotions, and authentic moments that feel like you.
This is the advantage of hiring a photographer who values connection over volume, someone who takes the time to understand what’s important to you, ensuring your engagement session is a reflection of your relationship, not just a series of staged images.

Kind words from
"Geoff was outstanding! He expertly planned our adventure and our photos turned out stunning. Highly recommend!"
An engagement session is more than a photo shoot. It is an opportunity to document this chapter of your relationship with intention. It allows you to become comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day and experience my approach firsthand. Many couples say their engagement session significantly reduces stress on their wedding day because they already feel confident and prepared.
Location should reflect who you are as a couple. Some choose an iconic mountain setting in Banff or Lake Louise, while others prefer an urban Calgary backdrop or a quiet natural space that holds personal meaning. With over two decades of photographing throughout Alberta, I guide you in selecting a location based on season, privacy, lighting direction, and accessibility to ensure the best possible experience.
Yes, many locations within Banff National Park require photography permits or adherence to Parks Canada guidelines. I stay current with national park regulations and ensure sessions are conducted responsibly and legally. This protects both you and the integrity of these protected landscapes.
For peak season between May and October, booking several months in advance is recommended, particularly for mountain destinations with limited access windows. Winter sessions also require planning due to weather and daylight limitations. Early booking allows for greater flexibility in timing and location selection.
The best light typically occurs shortly after sunrise or before sunset when natural light is soft and flattering. In highly visited areas such as Lake Louise or Banff, early morning sessions also help avoid crowds and preserve privacy. I evaluate each location carefully and recommend timing based on seasonal light patterns, visitor traffic, and your preferred atmosphere.
Preparation begins well before the session date. We discuss wardrobe styling, location selection, seasonal considerations, and overall vision. I provide guidance on color palettes, movement, and layering to ensure your outfits complement the environment. Clear communication before the session allows you to arrive relaxed and confident.
Yes. I carry full professional liability insurance and operate in accordance with National Park requirements where applicable. Working with an insured and experienced photographer ensures your session is conducted professionally and safely.
Turnaround time depends on the scope of your session. Digital galleries are typically delivered within approximately 10 days. Each image is professionally edited for color, consistency, and refinement. If you choose heirloom albums or wall art, the design process begins shortly after your gallery delivery.
Mountain weather can shift quickly. I always monitor forecasts and build flexibility into planning. Depending on the conditions, we may adjust timing, modify the location, or embrace the atmosphere. Mist, snowfall, or dramatic skies often create some of the most compelling imagery when approached intentionally.
Yes. Pets are welcome and often add a meaningful element to your session. If bringing a pet to a public or mountain location, I recommend arranging assistance from a friend or family member to help manage them when not actively photographed.
Absolutely. Engagement images are commonly used for save the dates, invitations, wedding websites, and guest books. Many couples also select images for fine art wall displays or albums that become part of their home.
Yes. A professional agreement outlines the scope of services, delivery expectations, and payment structure. This protects both you and me while ensuring complete clarity and alignment from the beginning.
