THE VENUE GUIDE

Your Castle Wedding in the Canadian Rockies

Weddings at The Fairmont Banff Spring Hotel

Celebrate in a Castle your dream wedding at Alberta's top mountain wedding venue, at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel wedding venue located in Banff National Park. Known as "Canada's Castle in the Rockies," this towering, classic resort is set amidst snow-capped mountains and sloping pine forests.

What To Love About Your Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel Wedding Venue

Mountains, grandeur, luxury. This is what you will find when you plan your wedding at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, a standout amongst other Canadian hotels.

The hotel is built in the Scottish baronial style. Event rooms are filled with delicate wood, stained glass windows, and arched stone, making it feel as if you have just stepped into a tale about a princess.

What delicacy is found in interior elements works in delightful contrast to the Rocky Mountain peaks that surround the Fairmont hotel and Bow Valley.

You will love the stunning background for your special day, and your guests will find much to do in the surrounding town and ski resorts in every season.

Put simply, don't miss out on this unique and gorgeous location. Make the Banff Springs Hotel wedding venue your fairytale.

Wedding Location at The Banff Springs Hotel

Hosting a wedding within Banff National Park comes with many nearby attractions that guests can use to fill their downtime.

In the winter, the ski slopes are open and freshly powdered. Just a short drive away from the resort, Mount Norquay, Lake Louise, and Sunshine Village are all close enough for guests to enjoy.

Those looking to hit the snow in other capacities will find snowshoeing, snow tubing, snowmobiling, dog sled tours, and sleigh rides as well.

Children staying at the resort will find opportunities in the Kids at the Castle Outdoor Excursions Programs. Tennis, scavenger hunts, raft float tours, and wilderness adventures await children who want to spend some time away from boring grown-up preparations checking out the surrounding nature.

Getting to The Banff Springs Hotel

Reaching the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel wedding venue can be done in several ways. The nearest airport is Calgary International Airport, which is about 130 km away. From the airport, guests may hop on the shuttle, contract a taxi or limousine, or rent a vehicle.

The hotel is reached by traveling TransCanada Highway #1 and entering Banff National Park. Guests do need a National Park Pass to enter when driving themselves but can buy one online ahead of time.

Indoor Wedding Venues at The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel

You have your pick of indoor venues at this Fairmont hotel. Regardless of the size you need, there is a space to make your day extra special. Each room can be decorated or you can keep it elegant by maintaining the room's theme. The hotel can assist with options or you can bring in your own wedding planner who can help plan your day. Below are the Ballrooms and private rooms available to you at the Banff Springs Hotel.

Mount Stephen Hall

Mount Stephen Hall wedding ceremony during the winter

Capitalize on the castle-esque feel of Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Mt. Stephen Hall. With stone floors and arches, the ceiling is crisscrossed by oak beams. Stained glass windows filter light into the high room where both ceremony and reception are hosted.

Exchange vows beneath the wrought chandelier glowing with softly lit candles.

Cascade Ballroom

Step into history in the Cascade Ballroom, which retains the looks of its early days in the 1920s. Bright and colorful with crystal chandeliers, this space is everything you dreamed it to be.

Positioned with a view of the Bow Valley that's called a "million-dollar" view, you and your guests will enjoy the setting of this classic ballroom.

Alhambra Room

Are you looking for an old-world charm? The Alhambra Room is styled after the Spanish Renaissance. Bring up to 220 guests to be seated in delicate wooden chairs before walls of banked windows and double glass doors.

Ivor Petrak Room

Bring your nearest and dearest 60 guests to the Ivor Petrak room. With high arched windows overlooking Bow Valley, the view will almost distract guests from the bride.

Angus Room

Smaller old-world charm for your extra special 24 guests can be found in the Angus Room. Dine together at the banquet table below an arched ceiling and within richly paneled walls.

Your ceremony and reception have the utmost privacy, bathed in the light of the stained-glass windows and hanging chandeliers.

Outdoor Wedding Spaces at Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel

Banff Springs Outdoor Terrace

Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel wedding venue offers one outdoor venue, the Outdoor Terrace. Overlooking the Bow Valley, your 180 guests are seated between the mountains as you take your vows. It is the Banff Springs Hotel's choice location to get married, so book in advance for the Outdoor Terrace.

Celebrate your ceremony followed by a champagne toast on the lawn located a few steps away from the Outdoor Terrace, followed by family photographs.

Elopement and Small Wedding Package at the Banff Springs Hotel

The Banff Springs Hotel wedding venue offers small wedding and elopement packages, so you can get married in private at this stunning location. At Geoff Wilkings Photography, I am proud to offer Alberta elopement packages and small weddings along with larger wedding offerings.

The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel offers two small ceremony packages to meet the needs of those wishing to go the minimalist route in a grand location.

Book the Lower Bow Valley Terrace for a standing outdoor elopement with 2-12 guests.

For a few more guests - 10-45 - move up to the Upper Bow Valley Terrace for a seated ceremony followed by dinner indoors.

Opt for a private dinner in the Ivor Petrak Room, Mt. Stephen Hall, or the Cascade Ballroom, or a semi-private plated dinner in the Vermillion Room.

Often the Banff Springs "small" wedding packages Monday to Thursday come with some savings but can change quickly depending on how busy the hotel is. If you're flexible with dates, connect with the hotel to explore their offerings.

Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel Rooms

Wedding guests do receive group rates for rooms. The resort hosts 757 guest rooms, including suites, mountain view rooms, and "cozy" rooms for those who prefer privacy. Cozy meaning rooms are small and hard to book, so think ahead for your guests as group tours block rooms months ahead.
